Revelation 14:6-7
6 And I saw another angel flying through the sky, carrying the eternal Good News to proclaim to the people who belong to this world – to every nation, tribe, language, and people.
7 “Fear God,” he shouted. “Give glory to him. For the time has come when he will sit as judge. Worship him who made the heavens, the earth, the sea, and all the springs of water.
Some theologians believe that the angel was announcing judgment. If this is the case, the people of the world will have had their final chance to be in a relationship with God. It’s a reminder that this final judgment will lead to the destruction of the world as we know it and will lead to the eternal separation of those who intentionally do not believe in who God is and the mission of Jesus.
I know this is a strange concept to wrap our mind around in the world today. We often do not think about what our life will look like outside of the earthly world today. This is often where Christians can go overboard. People will take this in a literal end and look at any sinful issues as “REPENT OR GO TO HELL.” It gets very aggressive, very fast, and doesn’t really look at the detailed version of anything. We need to start having different conversations about what’s going on and understand why we should look at why we do what we do and ensure that our actions and words align to what God has created us to do.
More likely, this angel gives the final, worldwide appeal to recognize the one true God. No one will have the excuse of never hearing God’s offer of salvation. At this point of humanity, living creation might be reaching a “there’s no going back.” Humanity has seen many different chances and opportunities to hear about God, either through the prophets, through the ministry of Jesus, or the teachings of the disciples and apostles. Even today, we have many different denominations within Christianity to hear about God. I heard it said once that denominations are just different flavors of Christianity. We’re all using out of the same instruction manual, just with different interpretations. There will always be these differences, but there is always the one true God.
