Micah 7:7
| NASB | NLT | VOICE |
| 7 But as for me, I will be on the watch for the Lord; I will wait for the God of my salvation. My God will hear me. | 7 As for me, I look to the Lord for help. I wait confidently for God to save me, and my God will certainly hear me. | 7 But as for me, I will look to the Eternal One, and my hope is in the true God who will save me. My God will hear me. |
Trust That God Hears Us
Micah describes his own faithfulness and compares it to the corruption and unfaithfulness of the world around him. Micah looks to the Lord for guidance. Looking, in the Hebrew, implies expectation and hope. Micah seeks God to guide him and strengthen him in his time of managing corruption. Waiting on God involves being patient and trusting in His timing and deliverance. Micah has confidence in his relationship with God. God is attentive to the prayers of true believers.

Listening to God’s Commands
Micah’s confidence in believing that God will hear him can assure us that God hears our cries as well and responds according to His will. When we pray, we aren’t speaking into a void. We are talking to our heavenly Father that wants to see us succeed and thrive under the plans he created for us. It can feel hard to do at times because when we’re stuck in the middle of chaos, the last thing we tend to do is talk to someone that we cannot see. However, Micah is saying that we can still speak to God, and trust that God is listening and will respond when His time is right.
John mentions this in his letter – 1 John 5:14-15 says:
14 And we are confident that he hears us whenever we ask for anything that pleases him.
15 And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests we have asked from Him.
Our confidence comes from our boldness and assurance in our relationship with God. Our relationship and personal and direct that is only available through the sacrifice of Christ. God’s will focuses on understanding His character and purposes shown in the Scriptures. God hears our asks. This hearing is not just an auditory process, but an attentive and responsive engagement in our relationship with God. The confidence of our asks God hears is based on our faithfulness and relationship.
Our faith is assurance of the things we hope for. We believe in God’s faithfulness to fulfill his promises. It’s about how deeply we trust in God’s character and His history. Jesus teaches us to ask, seek, and knock for everything with God. God, as our Loving Father, will give good gifts to His children.
What does any of this mean to us? Always explore, always ask, always try. Everything we investigate must be submitted to God. God desires our flourishing, though not always in the ways we expect. When we submit all our requests and curiosities to God, we start to lean into God’s will more and start to keep God’s commands close to our hearts.

PRAY Action
Praise God for the relationship that we have been given through the sacrifice made by Jesus. Through Jesus, we get to have a right relationship with our Heavenly Creator.
Read Matthew 7:7-11
Ask God boldly, while trusting that God’s answers are shaped by divine wisdom and love. Honestly, ask God. Seek His ways. Knock on every door God puts in front of you. If they are connected to God’s will, God will provide what is truly needed.
You are one of God’s children, and God delights to give good gifts as you seek Him.
