2 Samuel 7:22
NASB – For this reason You are great, Lord God; for there is no one like You, and there is no God except You, according to all that we have heard with our ears.
NRSVUE – Therefore you are great, O Lord God, for there is no one like you, and there is no God besides you, according to all that we have heard with our ears.
VOICE – So You are great, O Eternal Lord. No one else like You exists, and there is no god greater than You, as we should know from everything we have heard.
David Shouting God Out
David worships his powerful, relational God. God took David on a path from shepherding sheep to the King over Israel. God’s grace goes beyond human achievement and guides us towards the eternal reign of Jesus. Yahweh is on His own standard when it comes to power, holiness, faithfulness, and mercy. The gods of the other nation could neither save or keep a relationship. David knows the unique reality between Yahweh compared to all the other idols. God alone is our Creator, Judge, Redeemer, and King. The goal is to stay in a relationship with Christ, who was ultimately shown in the life and work of Jesus. Our testimony is how God is faithful to us and how we can encourage others to trust the word He spoke to us and rescued us from our sin.

Creating Your Story with God
The goal of being a Christian is reflecting the characteristics of God (compassionate, merciful, patient, faithful, and truth) to all people that we meet. We see how these characteristics are lived out through the life and ministry of Jesus. Jesus went out and fed the hungry, welcomed the stranger, healed the sick, and above all rescued people from the consequences of their sinful behavior. When we factor all of these things in, we get to see a grander picture of how our lives should be. Jesus calls us to serve as He served the world – self-sacrificially. There is nothing greater than to care for our neighbors. God wants us to ensure that we are taking care of ourselves in all ways: physically, mentally, and spiritually. Yet, with our surplus, we need to ensure the needs of our community are met. It could be giving of our time, resources, skills, and more. We are also called to care for others on a bigger scale. God wants us to ensure that we care for the environment. God wants us to fight for the marginalized communities, speaking up and speaking out for those that have been oppressed by the Pharisees of our times. With all these things, we create a story of our own lives. One that we can share with others to show the impact of how our God has been present in our lives. God is the only one that can rescue us from the consequences of our sins eternally. There may be earthly consequences for our past behaviors, but will be right there with us to guide us, strengthen us, and give us the wisdom we need to get to the other side of these situations. When we seek a relationship with God, accepting the eternal rescue that was done on our behalf, we have a transformation process to go through. One that we will progress through daily. We will never reach perfection, but daily progression is the goal. Each day is a new journey to see how we can be more Christ-like.
