“Your word is like a lamp for my feet and a light for my way.”
-Psalm 119:105
When we are in mental distress, we are often taught to read our Bible and find clarity in our thoughts. We should pray to seek clarity in what we’re dealing with God’s love, mercy, and discernment. Much like a lamp can light up a dark room and a street lamp can light up a road, the Bible can help us see things we couldn’t before. The dark can surround us and swallow to where we can’t see things right in front of our noses. The darkness can be overwhelming, but light clears that darkness. The Bible helps clear our mental and spiritual darkness. The amount of light we allow to shine in us can help us be that light to others.
