The Toughest Foundation || Matthew 7:24 || Mid-Week Midrash #26

“Everyone who hears these things says and obeys them is like a wise man. The wise man built his house on rock.”
-Matthew 7:24

This is the start of a fantastic parable that Jesus taught. The man that built his house on the rock had a stable foundation to last any storm, while that man that built his house on the sand had an unstable foundation and crumbled under the storm. Jesus is teaching that if we build our life’s foundation on God’s word, we will be strong enough to last any storm that comes through our life. He compares this to building a foundation based on earthly values. While it sounds good in planning, it will be poor in execution. The world is an ever-evolving and ever-changing place, but the Bible is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
