13 My brothers, God called you to be free. But do not use your freedom as an excuse to do the things that please your sinful self. Serve each other with love.
God has given us free will to do whatever we want to do. While He wants us to do things that align with his plan, He still gives us the power to do whatever we want. I don’t believe we’d be able to understand God’s grace and mercy without this option of free will. Paul says not to use this freedom to do things that please our earthly beings. We aren’t to do things against God’s plan for us. God’s plan for us is different for every person because God creates a unique plan for each person, but it still means we should want to do what Jesus taught us to do. With our free will, we should want to Love God with all our being and to love each other as God has loved us. It means not judging others’ choices with the free will that God had given them. We need to serve each other with no judgment and condemnation but love. That includes a gentle correcting, but love nonetheless.
