Price of Your Soul || Mark 8:36 || Mid-Week Midrash #54

“It is worth nothing for a person to have the whole world, if he loses his soul.” – Mark 8:36

The soul refers to the real you—the one who will follow Jesus into heaven or not. When you look at all the world has to offer and still don’t choose Jesus, you are eternally bankrupt. Being eternally bankrupt means that all the world’s goods don’t compensate for a relationship with Jesus. This part of Mark 8 comes from Jesus predicting his death and resurrection. The value of this relationship is worth more than all the world’s goods and services combined. This relationship must be important, right? We need to set our foundation for how we act and think on Earth based on our relationship with Christ. Jesus teaches us to replicate the love, care, and forgiveness he shares with us to each person in our lives. There’s no number of gifts and services that can replace the love, care, and forgiveness that we can give to each other. We can show these things as a representation of it, but not as a substitute. Our relationship with Jesus needs to be our priority and focus on everything we have in our lives. Whether it is how we interact with people, how we look at ourselves, or how we make an impact on the world, we need to show the world who Jesus is and how loving and caring he is
