Welcome back to another installment of “Let’s Listen To!” This whole series is dedicated to talking about my favorite Christian songs, from what it means to my favorite verses and everything in between. Today, we will listen to “Never Lost” by Elevation Worship ft. Tauren Wells. This is one of my favorite collaborations in the CCM world because of the comparative styles between the musicians. Their styles fit each other well, and they kill it with this song. Let’s dive into it.

An article from JubileeCast (link at the end) hears from Chris Brown, the lead singer of Elevation Worship. He says, “When we look through Scripture, we see that God’s never been intimidated by a battle his children were facing.” He then lists a couple of situations like this and finishes by saying, “And we still worship the same Champion of Heaven that fights for us.” This message is communicated so effectively that I want to discuss some of my favorite verses. Let’s do it!

Listen to this verse:

Right now, I know you’re able.

My God, come through again.

In this song, they mention situations that seem like a losing battle: Lazarus’s death and the battle at Jericho. These situations seemed hopeless, unwinnable, and just an overall failure. Yet, we know that God doesn’t waste a battle and takes these situations and overcomes it. God takes what we see as an unwinnable situation and turns it good. If our God, the same God, can do that in both situations, our God will come through for us. We know that he can come through. We don’t believe he will come through for us. So we plea and pray for God to do the unthinkable for us. To come through for us at a time when it doesn’t feel possible. 

This next verse has intrigued me:

Everything’s possible 

by the power of the Holy Ghost.

A new wind is blowing right now.

Everything is possible when it comes to our God. Things that don’t even make sense to our human minds are possible to our God. Exactly as they say too. It’s by the power of the Holy Ghost. The Holy Spirit usually gives us the energy and motivation to do things that seem out of character. This is usually due to things being outside of my comfort zone. This new wind takes over, and God does God things through me via the Holy Spirit. It’s such a unique situation. With this new wind, you can feel like you can’t lose. Since God’s guiding the spirit through you and God doesn’t lose a battle, I feel you can’t lose. You definitely can’t lose with God on your side.
