We looked at the scroll. We know that the scroll holds the future of our world. We know that Jesus is the only one with the power to manage the scroll. Starting today, Jesus is breaking the seals found within the scroll. Over this seven-part series, we are looking at what the different seals represent and how we can be interpreting these seals in our world today. This series will be called “Sealed No Longer.” Again, my goal is to look deeper into what the seals represent and how we can be mindful of how to interpret those events in our world today. The fourth seal is in Revelation 6:7-8:
Revelation 6:7-8
7 When the Lamb broke the fourth seal, I heard the fourth living being say, “Come!”
8 I looked up and saw a horse whose color was pale green. Its rider was named Death, and his companion was the Grave. These two were given authority over one fourth of the earth, to kill with the sword and famine and disease and wild animals.
It’s not clearly understood if “Grave” was on a separate horse than Death or rode alongside Death. The riders described here, and through the last three seals, are commonly referred to here as the four horseman of the Apocalypse. They were four events that would be revealed at the end of the world. It’s events of pride, sin, strength, and now, death.
These two riders (death and grave) are given power over one-fourth of the earth’s population, indicating that God is still limiting his judgment. This is the same God that wiped off all of humanity except for one family line in Genesis 6. God doesn’t want to wipe all out like that again. In fact, he made a covenant with Noah that it will never happen again. God is still holding out hope. These are severe events we’re walking through in these first four seals:
- We have the battle against sin and purity.
- We have the battle against war and death.
- We have the battle against greed.
- We have the battle against famine and disease.
Seven things that we are constantly battling against in our world today. We struggle against trying to act like our Divine creator and remain strong against the temptations of the world that pull us away from God. All over our world, we are watching battles and wars happening around us for unneeded reasons and taking the lives of so many people that are innocent in the fight. We constantly have internal battles about how much we share with others, whether it’s through our money, our time, and our resources. We are seeing a massive increase in people who are becoming sick with diseases that are struggling to find a cure or dying from hunger for reasons based on corporate greed and selfish mindsets.
During these judgments, unbelievers will face a time in the world to solidify their believes to their one true God for the purposes of eternal life instead of an eternal separation from God in a space of solitude and loneliness. The actions of what we do on earth all should centralize on loving for your neighbor with compassion if not already, through the various religions and denominations that you are a part of on earth today.
In this case, the limited punishment demonstrates God’s fight against sin, but also his love for us and yet another opportunity to see his love. God wants us to spend life with him in eternality and offers us the plethora of patience, time, and abilities to agree to spend our eternal life with him. We must not abuse God’s patience, though. Our ability to repent and turn to God as our Lord and Savior must be intentional and sincere. We must want it deep within our hearts and deep within our souls, and we must do it without the coercion or forced religious beliefs.
We must find these moments within our daily actions and words. Find those moments when your greed takes hold of your decisions, or when your envy takes hold of your words. When those internal battles take place, give them to God. Talk about them with God’s teachings in mind, and trust that he will see victory over them and trust that those things that aren’t like God will be more like him. Until next time, stay blessed.
