Today’s song is “Desperate” by Jamie MacDonald. This song was released on January 3rd, 2025, as one of her most recent singles.
In an interview she did on K-Love, she talks about how the lyrics for this song were inspired by many instances that happen to us but are out of out control. This song was the anthem for her when the words for prayer are difficult to find.
The lyrics definitely hit the mindset about needing words for the prayer that is hard to pray. Listen to these lyrics:
Redeem this wreckage
Restore my peace
I’m not asking, I’m begging
Lord, come through for me.
I’m sure most of us have felt like this. We’re a wreck. We’re without peace. We have chaos in our lives through and through. We’ve had enough. It’s no longer just one thing bothering us, but many things. We’re tired, anxious, panicked, and frustrated. God has a way to be able to restore our lives. The peace that Jesus can give is greater than anything the world can give to us. The peace of the world is temporary, and the peace of Jesus is eternal. The eternal peace allows us not to avoid peace or avoid chaos, but able to find peace in the middle of chaos. We allow our minds to be free from the chaos and allow our strength to be able to do what God has called us to do. God doesn’t make trash, but he allows our imperfections to be used for his perfect will and plan for us.
