Today’s song is “We Still Believe (HLY FOREVER)” by KB, Ryan Ofei ft. One Church Music. It was released as a single on February 7, 2025.
I cannot find any direct articles that talk about the meaning of the song from KB directly, so let’s roll into my favorite verse.
We don’t call it deceased here, know he made us
Holy forever. Bring your weak, uh, bring your grief.
And it’s free, come and see, yeah your demons get weak here.
This is something that resonates with me on multiple levels. We often look at our chaos and struggle and wish for our own demise – our death so that we would no longer want to face that chaos. With this verse though, it’s a reminder that God made us. God knows what we would have to endure and has given us the strength and faith to make our way through it. We’re not dead where we are. We are born again through Christ who gives us strength.
God wants us to bring all of our doubts, grief, and weaknesses. He wants us to own up to them and work through them. Sure, they will be painful and hard to talk about. It’s through that hard work that we find our path to clarity, guidance, and relief. It’s a chance to clear our conscience and move onward to a path of peace and justice.
The strongholds that held us back before are no longer there. The demons flee with the mention of God. The eternal battle against the temptations of our world is there constantly for us, but we serve a God that has won the battle. The demons are weak, and we have the power to (as Matt Chandler says) punch the devil in the face. God calls on us to resist, even when we are weak. Through our weakness is his strength. Through our struggle is his peace. Through our doubt is his faith. The more we battle in this and settle along side him, the more we become holy.
