Today’s song is “Pray” by Ryan Ellis feat. Social Club Misfits. It was released on December 13, 2024 as just a single at this time.
I was unable to find any articles that talk about the meaning of this song from Ryan Ellis or Social Club Misfits directly. We’ll review some of my favorite lyrics from this song.
Pain can be healed with a little bit of grieving
You don’t have to rush, take a breath, keep on breathin’
We don’t like to feel pain. We never want to feel pain. However, it still happens to us. It comes in various forms – physical, emotional and spiritual. Because of the uncomfortable sensation of experiencing this pain, we want the feelings to be over ASAP. We’ll do different things to cope with or to numb the pain. This could be smoking, drinking, hook-ups, using porn, and more. This bandages it enough that allows us to go forward until we need to numb all over again. However, if we slow down. To understand why our pain radiates as it does. To understand how this pain became as powerful as we’ve let it. To understand how we can overcome this pain. We can work towards a point when the pain doesn’t have to be as harmful the next time around, if it comes back around. Sometimes it starts with simply taking a breath and acknowledging it just lessens the intensity. Pain is a reaction to an event that hurts us.
Flowers don’t grow if they never feel the rain
What’s a good life without a little bit of pain?
I’ve often heard that idiom used, but never quite felt comfortable with it. Like, I can understand that life will have its ups and down, hurts and holy moments, but why do we need pain? Why do we need to experience this feeling? Why did God create us to experience this feeling? These are questions that have a deep answer: so we know what happiness is. There’s good, and we may not know what bad is without that good. We may not know what is wrong without understanding what is right. When we learn to accept the pain, we can better celebrate the good. God teaches us that we can use our pain for good. Not because he causes the pain, but his grace, mercy, love, and wisdom can be found in the middle of chaos.
