Today’s song is “Take the Wheel” by DKG Kie and Caleb Gordon. It was released as a single on November 1, 2024.

I’m unable to find any articles done with the artist describing the meaning of this song. With that, we’ll move to talk about some of my favorite verses from this song.

Tell me can you pray for me

It’s done been a day for me

People take the wheel in they hands

It ain’t the way for me.

For me recently, it’s been a heavy time. Work has created a lot of mental anguish of doubt, stress, anxiety, panic, and more. I know I can take a simpler step and quit. I have plans to help overcome the financial turmoil, income differences, and everything like that, but…I can’t. Like DKG says, “it ain’t the way for me.” The truth the last two days, while being hard for me, I’m seeing cracks in the workplace’s structure that is hinting to me that change is coming. Do I know if the change will be better or worse? No. What I do know is that it’s involving concerns I’ve had that I’ve been silenced on. I am working the hardest possible to try and make this work, but I’ve been struggling if it’s worth my physical and mental health. However – I know my God is right alongside me in this journey. Do I need to lean on him more and trust him a little more through this process? Most definitely. I’ve seen God close doors when they’ve needed to be closed for me. If he did it then, he will do it now.

Lord, take the wheel

I was tryna steer

Your love perfect

Let it cast out my fear

It’s easy for us to want to control things. I often want things to work out perfectly for me. I will try to make sure that happens to the best of my ability. However, outside of myself – everything is outside of my control. I keep wanting to drive the car, but it’s not worth my steering. I need to take a passenger seat and let God allow it to happen. God’s love is greater than everything I can control. My fears do not drive, but its his power, love, and sound mind that guides me through the hills and valleys of life.
