Finding Strength in Christ’s Love || Who Am I Again? || Part 9

Exploring identity through Christ's love

Romans 8:37

NASBNLTVOICE
37 But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us.37 No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.37 But no matter what comes, we will always taste victory through Him who loved us.

Victory via Faith

“These things” describe the hardships they were facing like trouble, persecution, famine, nakedness, and more. Early Christians faced severe persecution, so this assurance would have been a source of great comfort. Believers don’t just face trouble in this world, but they come out victorious over those troubles through faith. This victory isn’t gained by human strength, but through divine power. The love of Christ is what our victory is founded on. His love for us was shown on the cross, where he suffered a punishment on our behalf because of our sinful behavior. This love assures that we can be locked into the fight and emerge victorious because of the power of Christ’s love.

Christ’s Love is our Firm Foundation

In the face of our hardship, we can have confidence and peace. The power of Christ that is shown in our struggles is not a power that leads to us avoiding hardship altogether. Following Christ and living a godly life is not an easy thing. Jesus states in the Gospels that following him will not be easy. The peace that Jesus gives us is the power and assurance that we can make in our times of trouble. It’s the confidence that we need to get through the stress without dwelling on any panic, anxiety, and insecurity. No matter what type of stressor that we are dealing with, there is nothing that can separate us from God’s love. We cannot lose this foundation of our confidence and peace in times of strife. God’s love gives the confidence that we are not alone in the fight. God’s peace shows us that we will not often spiral down anxiety and panic, and if we do – we have someone to pull us out of that spiral. God’s love gives us the strength to see the solution to the stress and be able to walk through the valley to emerge victorious on the other side. God’s love is the foundation for all parts of our life, and we must welcome it in to see it used in our life.

Above everything, remember this: I am more than a conqueror through Him who loves me.
