Day 184 Never Leave

Deuteronomy 7:9

NASBNLTVOICE
9 Know therefore that the Lord your God, He is God, the faithful God, who keeps His covenant and His faithfulness to a thousand generations for those who love Him and keep His commandments.9 Understand, therefore, that the Lord your God is indeed God. He is the faithful God who keeps his covenant for a thousand generations and lavishes his unfailing love on those who love him and obey his commands.9 I want you to know that the Eternal your God is the only true God. He’s the faithful God who keeps His covenant and shows loyal love for a thousand generations to those who in return love Him and keep His community.

God is the only true God. This was a facet of early Jewish beliefs in Deuteronomy and a response of Christians in today’s time. Different religions will focus on different deities as their primary God. Christianity says that God is the true God and reigns over all other Gods. Remember how Jesus is claimed as: “king of kings” and “lord of lords”; this is the same structure that God is the supreme god over all the other Gods. For Christians, Yahweh is the only we must follow and must obey. There are many other gods and idols (or things) that are vying for our worship and our attention, but God must remain as our one and only.

God stays loyal to us, and so we should remain loyal to him. He keeps the promises that were sent to Abraham, Moses, and the Disciples. All he asks of us is to love him with all of who we are and to follow his commands to love each other as we love ourselves and as Jesus loved us. His love has lasted for many generations and will continue to last us for many more.

2 Timothy 2:13

NASBNLTVOICE
13 If we are faithless, He remains faithful, for He cannot deny Himself.13 If we are unfaithful, he remains faithful, for he cannot deny who he is.13 If we are unfaithful, He remains faithful, For He is not able to deny Himself.

Jesus stays faithfully by our side. Even when we want to give up and begin to doubt everything, including our own faith. We may be faithless at times, but Jesus will still remain. Jesus doesn’t abandon us, even when we abandon him. How? Jesus cannot deny his own nature of love, mercy, and compassion. Jesus remained by humanity’s side when he went to die a sacrificial death on the cross for our sins. We can know and rest that Jesus will be with us, no matter now how much we sin or abandon his teachings. How great it is to have a friend, mentor, counselor, and savior that is always in our corner.
