Psalm 119:93

NASBNLTVOICE
93 I will never forget Your precepts, For by them You have revived me.93 I will never forget your commandments, for by them you give me life.93 I will never forget Your precepts, for through them You have given me life.

His Word Brings Life and Renewal

The psalmist expresses a deep commitment to remembering God’s teachings and commands. The Israelites are instructed to keep God’s words in their hearts and teach them diligently to their children. This wasn’t for intellectual purposes, but was more meant to represent a heartfelt dedication according to God’s will. Jesus shows the importance of keeping His commands as a sign of love for God. These commands bright life and renewal, both spiritually and physically, through guidance, comfort, and strength. This renewal is shown ultimately through Jesus, who is the Word made flesh and who offers eternal life to those who believe in HIm.

Timeless Truth in a Modern World

God’s commands are timeless and applicable to every generation providing wisdom and guidance. We often hear about how the Bible is outdated and contains stories that mean nothing to the world we live in today, especially with the U.S. culture today. I’ve heard this a lot lately from different pastors: “The Bible wasn’t written to us, but it was written for us.” The specifics of the Bible was written towards the specific Greek and Israelite culture. What was written 2,000 to 3,500 years ago in the Middle Eastern countries was not meant for us today. However, we can work towards understanding why different parts of the biblical narrative was said in its specific context, understanding the key moral lesson behind it, and understanding how we can apply it in the world we are in today. We can take God’s principles to the Jews and Gentiles, and apply it to us Christians today today and find that guidance, comfort, and strength
