10 Love each other like brothers and sisters. Give your brothers and sisters more honor than you want for yourselves.
When we talk about giving more – fill in the blank – to others than to ourselves, we lose out on understanding who we are. We’re given many different titles in the Bible as believers in Christ, but how often do we focus on them. How often do we take time and focus on what the Bible says we are? I feel like it’s very few. We hear so many stories and sermons about how we should take care of others, put others first, and so on. I believe that we spend way less time talking about how we can find our relationships with Christ in the Bible. I’ve often struggled in this area and how the servanthood mentality can overtake our focuses and teachings. So I wrap my concerns in this area with this thought: let’s raise each other for sure, but be sure you are not pouring from an empty cup. Make sure that you are taking care of yourself and lifting yourself. Ensure that you are giving yourself enough honor, respect, and care. You will always hear me preach on this and will never hear me stop!
